Bangkok Used Car & Imported Car Show, July 23-31, 2011, at Impact
On July 25 I attended the Bangkok Used Car & Imported Car Show. It was held in the spacious setting of two big halls at Impact Exhibition Center. At this show, “used car” is by no means synonymous with “cheap car.” All the used cars were beautifully painted and looked to be in excellent condition, with high prices to match.
At the registration desk I was given a colorful Used Car Guide Book (in Thai language, no English manuals available). It contained 100 pages of automobile-related articles and write-ups on the show’s exhibitors. There were also photos and descriptions of various cars, such as the Audi TTS Coupe, BMW Z4, Fiat 500, Lexus RX 350, Honda CR-Z, Lotus Exige S, Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz E Coupe, Nissan Juke, Porsche Cayenne, Toyota Land Cruiser, Volkswagen Beetle, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4,Tesla Roadster, and others.
There were quite a number of vintage automobiles on display, all looking flawless in appearance. The color black was dominant among the vintage cars, and among the new cars as well.
There were also about twenty cabin cruisers and other sailing vessels for sale. I was impressed with the 24-foot “Bayliner” cabin cruiser, with Mercruiser 350 MAG 300 HP, selling for 3.5 million baht (about US$117,000); however, not having a spare 3.5 million, I gave it a pass.
This was the 3rd Annual Bangkok Used Car & Imported Car Show. This attendance seemed okay, but not exceptional. I went on a Monday afternoon, though, so this was probably not a normally busy time.
